Istanbul, a mosaic of cultures

Eastern and the Western cultures come face to face in Istanbul, the capital of Turkey. It is the only city in the world that is located on two continents—Europe and Asia. The Bosphorus strait divides the city in two, connects the Sea of Marmara and the Black Sea, and physically separates Asia from Europe. Istanbul is the economic hub of the Republic of Turkey.

The mix of cultures has resulted in mosques, churches, synagogues, and historical palaces. Some of these include Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, and the New Mosque, along with other interesting religious buildings. It is highly recommended to spend some time taking in the bazaars and picturesque neighborhoods of the old city, located on both sides of the Golden Horn.
